Submitting to search engines and search directories is a must for any webmaster. Here below are some tips which will help you with being listed or ranked better,if you are already listed,or get listed if you are not listed. Make sure that you have kept your important content near the top of your pages.The actual content with focused text,on your website,along with rich keywords,spread throughout your page is very important. Search engine spiders,read this to determine rankings.Some engines will place a higher rating of importance based on where they find the text in your page. Closer to the top is usually better. Keep updating your site,as no one likes to go to a page that never changes or that is very out of date.Check the links on your site every now and then and remove or set right broken links.Dead links are not only an inconvenience for the visitor, but can also negatively influence your rankings. Interlink your pages with other pages useful to that page,both from your page to other pages,and from other pages to yours. Write an effective title,as many search engines,give a little bit more weightage,to the data in your title,than to other data in your page.So,it is advisable to,ensure that your title has keywords that represent your site effectively.At the same time keep your title short. Do not use frames,as most search engines simply cannot index a frames page,as a result,when the crawlers get to your site,find a dead end as they can't go anywhere. Keep in mind that something higher up in your page can be more important that something further down.So there is a possibility,for HTML formatting, images, scripts, etc. placed toward the top of your page resulting in lower rankings. Your content interlaced with keywords,with focused text,is very very important.But use of keywords repeatedly over and over again could result in the keywords being considered as "spam"by the search engines and so lower rankings. Too many images on your site is to be avoided at all cost.Focus more on content.Images do not go far in terms of content and relevancy. Keep the links on your site useful,relevant and optimal.When many search engines see them, they consider your site more 'real'. It also give the search engine spiders a place to go. Links from others websites,should also be given importance. Some search engines place importance on how many other sites in their index have links to your website.Make sure when you link,you link to sites that are relevant to yours.As you cannot control what sites are linking to yours,you need not worry from that angle.Hope the tips i have given are useful.
