Time and again you must have come across websites increasing ctr through judicious placement of ads,the color,..and so on.Well,based on experience i would say that in addition you need to concentrate on the quality of traffic you get,relevant ads,and the content you are writing.CTR depends upon the keywords you are using in your pages.Remember the more technical you write,the less CTR you are likely to get.A simple example would be---heart attack can also be called "myocardial infarction"But how many of you would understand that?If you cannot understand what i have written,would you return to mywebsite?However having said that if your content is well written and you are purposely targeting technical persons you may have a high CTR.Choose that Anchor text that directly speaks to your visitors and pulls the traffic that your web page requires. This is important for back links that will push traffic to your website.When you get targeted traffic your CTR will go up.Targeting irrelevant keyword will result in a lower CTR by gathering the traffic which is not interested in your content or ads. Choose the Title Text of of your web page carefully keeping in mind that it appears in the Search Engine Result Pages.It should have the capacity to draw a visitor to your site.I know that in case of a blog or free web pages,the choices narrow down considerably,but out of the available,select something short and relevant.If the title does not attract the visitor from the search engine results to you web pages,you will be losing a large chunk of visitors even if your content is good.However do not stuff your title with a lot of keywords.Somewhere around 5 keywords would be ideal but it should be below ten.Consider even misspelt keywords.What you require is better targeted ads,which will in turn increase your CTR.
