Paid link sellers slammed by Google..page rank lowered

Two days back hundreds of highly ranking websites (that is Google Toolbar pagerank) lost three or four points in rank–and in some cases more….pagerank.The visible PR of many blogs and mainstream news sites,dropped,may be,as a penalty for selling links.Targeted were some well-known sites in the search marketing world and mainstream news too,like Search Engine Journal, Search Engine Roundtable, ProBlogger and nationally prominent sites such as WashingtonPost.com and Forbes.com.However it comes as no surprise to me as months before google had warned about paid links and the adverse effect it had on the quality of search results shown by Google.We all go to Google,for making a search,as it gives us quality search results.I for one would like to say that, Google is perfectly justified in taking,this step,if not a bit late,to protect the integrity of its search engine result pages.Lowering page rank of those who sell links, levels the playing field, for those of us who don't sell them.As for me both my sites are on Google PR1.
